The successful completion of the proposed project will have sustainable economic benefits to Eastern Ontario, through the generation of wealth, the creation of high paying jobs, and the enhancement of quality of life in the region. The project proposed will position the region as a leader in the areas of Life Sciences, Agriculture, and Environmental research.
Rideau Heritage Route

"Grow the Market” is a Destination Development project that will facilitate the development of tourism products and businesses resulting in an increased capacity for this entire region to welcome more visitors, coming as a result of the new UNESCO World Heritage Designation of the Rideau Canal.

Many communities within Eastern Ontario feature the arts in the promotion of their area and see art as an important part of their local economy. Artists’ studios, art & craft shows, art colleges, art galleries and gift shops all serve as a tourist draw—bringing money into the community through direct sales and the spin-off of other tourist dollars. A vibrant cultural community is an asset for attracting new residents, doctors and other businesses.

The objective of this project is to establish a bio-heat industry in eastern Ontario, specifically, solid fuel pellets made from agriculture residues and switch-grass used for commercial and industrial boilers.

The need for internet/high speed internet coverage to the un served and under serviced residents businesses and institutions across Eastern Ontario is recognized by governments, business and community support organizations along with the general public as an essential tool for advancing our economy, quality of life and sustainablility.
Resource Manufacturing Centre

The purpose of this project is to respond to the excellent input received from manufacturers in the Region by implementing their highest priority recommendations for action to enable them to continue their operations and grow. The focus of the project is on workforce skills development as the foundation for retaining existing jobs and sourcing the skilled workers for new jobs that will enable the Region to continue as a rural manufacturing centre that is globally competitive and which continues to grow.

The Celebration of Trails goal/challenge now is to maintain what was accomplished, address any issues. Increasing the number of events, the number of participating Counties, and program enhancements.
