Eastern Ontario Development Program

The Eastern Ontario Development Program is to support the economic development and diversification of rural Eastern Ontario communities. The program makes funding available through repayable and non-repayable contribution agreements to businesses and not-for-profit organizations. The objective of this program is to promote socio-economic development in rural Eastern Ontario leading to a competitive and diversified regional economy and contribution to the successful development of business and sustainable self-reliant communities. This includes initiatives in key areas, such as skills development, youth attraction, innovation and information communication technology adoption to stimulate business and community development opportunities within the Eastern Ontario CFDC catchment area.

From its inception in October of 2004 to March of 2011, the Eastern Ontario Development Program has delivered over $68 million in support and on-going project activity. Approximately 10% of this amount has been made available for regional projects, the majority of which have historically been managed through the Eastern Ontario CFDC Network Inc. Recently, the Government of Canada announced a further $30 million in EODP support, taking the program through to March of 2014.  In addition, to local delivery Regional Projects have be redefined as Collaborative Projects. 

The objective of the Collaborative Projects Fund is to support initiatives which will stimulate business development and community innovation opportunities by promoting economic development leading to a competitive and diversified regional economy within eastern Ontario.  These projects will involve investments from as few as two (2) CFDC's.  In a case such as this, any potential projects should be discussed directly with your local CFDCs which may be involved.
